No Eleanor Rigby.

Loneliness, stop courting me
I am no Eleanor Rigby.
I will immerse myself in people
Although I don’t which city he was born in
Or why she walks with a limp
I will smile at random strangers
And wave at school kids passing by in a bus
And if they snicker over the poor old lady waving to them
I will know nothing about it.

Loneliness, begone, get away
I will not let my nostalgic past haunt my dreams
Or let me gasp for breath or beg for strength
Cities will change and friends will betray
And yet I am no drowning man clutching at blades of grass.

Loneliness, you do not exist
And if you do not exist, then you must not be true.
Who wants to hear my sermon? Who wants to weep over pain?
I am taking a fistful of the rice in Church
And flinging it back into the Earth.

Loneliness, stop courting me.

Like a Star by Corinne Bailey Rae

For my star.

Just like a star across my sky,
Just like an angel off the page,
You have appeared to my life,
Feel like I'll never be the same,
Just like a song in my heart,
Just like oil on my hands,
Honour to love you

Still I wonder why it is,
I don't argue like this,
With anyone but you,
We do it all the time,
Blowing out my mind,

You've got this look I can't describe,
You make me feel like I'm alive,
When everything else is au fait,
Without a doubt you're on my side,
Heaven has been away too long,
Can't find the words to write this song,
Oh...
Your love,

Still I wonder why it is,
I don't argue like this,
With anyone but you,
We do it all the time,
Blowing out my mind,

Now I have come to understand,
The way it is,
It's not a secret anymore,
'cause we've been through that before,
From tonight I know that you're the only one,
I've been confused and in the dark,
Now I understand,

I wonder why it is,
I don't argue like this,
With anyone but you,
I wonder why it is,
I wont let my guard down,
For anyone but you
We do it all the time,
Blowing out my mind,

Just like a star across my sky,
Just like an angel off the page,
You have appeared to my life,
Feel like I'll never be the same,
Just like a song in my heart,
Just like oil on my hands

Beloved

Beloved --
may this day never end

come let's stop this day
run behind the sun rays
never touch those shadows
My beloved.

The tired sun will pass over the waters of the river
If your feet those those green plains, you shall slip

But you wait, I shall cast a net
You hold it by the back, I will lend a hand
the day will never end.

You and I and our squabbles
Forgiveness with a touch of the lips
Never, oh, never leave
Oh my beloved.

Sometimes, think about this --
I will scold and you pretend at fear
Heavy eyes will lead to false tears
and when it begins to feel all bitter
we will let it go

You and I together. Always.

We are wed, in body, in spirit
Together, we will lead.
Oh my darling.
Oh beloved, may the day never end
May the shadows never touch you.

Oh my beloved.

My day dreams have chocolate in them
and a certain man
and two boys who are identical
who have their father's broad beautiful shoulders
and smile

My day dreams have a golden statuette
and a thousand applauses
and a warm home with wooden bookshelves
who have all the thousand books I am going to collect
and read

My day dreams have a happy marriage
and a funny laughable wedding
and little children throwing flower petals
who cushion my bridal feet as they walk past the smiling guests
and glow

My day dreams have long walks by the seas
and many diamond necklaces
and a secret brush of the hand
which makes the knees weaker and the heart beat faster
and faster

My day dreams have you you you
and the way you hold me
and the stars shine as we look up
into an inky black sky which promises us eternity
and love.

Do you know?

A thousand clouds dance their approval
All literature becomes one Meta narrative

Look out of your window
A thousand little boys dance smile understand

And friendships are strengthened
Over coffee cups and Shakespeare
And polymer tables at the office café

You aren’t lost enough to be found
And we don’t look for you in memories
For you are known seen heard

Words, now perhaps you had some help there
With their building their syntax their sounds

But their beauty, that’s yours alone
Be it this language or the other

No one can know you me or the fool on the hill
Not really not truly

You know you can win
The reason?
Look out of your window
A thousand little boys dance smile understand
Oh yes, they know

Changing days into changing nights
Shadows come shadows linger
Then they go.
They won’t ever stay

It’s the same with people.
We are all immortal.

Our masks protect us we’d like to think
No one can stand naked pain
Or bruises on your backs

You may tear yours away
But only if you want to
That is something no one else can touch.

Sometimes our masks are us.

Do you want faith?
Then look out of your window
A little boy smiles sweetly shyly but knowingly

At a butterfly as he idly kicks a football.

You would hate to be immune
To the passions that run through you
that make you the dreamer the fighter the friend

So what is strength?
Standing up to the ones you love
Or standing up for the ones you hate?

And whose reality is this anyway?
Do you see yourself in my dreams or yours?

When you are tired, weary
Look out of the window
A thousand little boys will smile back at you
As they shout papa papa
And run helter skelter

When you are shouting for help,
Those little boys cower in the corner
For they are afraid
Don’t frighten them

Don’t frighten yourself.

You are whole
You are strong
You are the one with the poetry.

Did you know?
